   Belleck China History

Back in 1857, the pottery's founder John Caldwell Bloomfield declared that any piece with even the slightest flaw should be destroyed. 144 years later, this golden rule is still strictly adhered to. The result is perfection.

When a customer purchases a piece of Belleek China they become the owner of a truly original piece of Irish craftsmanship, made using materials and techniques handed down form generation to generation. No two pieces are ever the same. Every handle, flower and brush stroke is lovingly applied by hand to create the look and the feel that is uniquely Belleek.

Each Belleek piece is mark for its authenticity. All Belleek marks, with minor exceptions, include symbols, which are unmistakably Irish, i.e. the Irish wolfhound with the head turned to face one of Ireland’s distinctive round towers. The Irish harp and two sprigs of shamrock border the ends of a banner at the base of the design, which carries the single word BELLEEK in capital letters.
